अब अमरीका की वाशिंगटन विश्वविद्यालय के संशाधकों ने ऐसे लोगों की सहायता स्वरूप एक सॉफ्टवेर बनाया है. यह सॉफ्टवेर इतना सक्षम है कि पूर्णत: सक्षम प्रयोक्ता और शारीरिक रूप से विकलांग व्यक्ति द्वारा कम्प्यूटर ऑपरेट कर सकने की क्षमता के दायरे को 60% तक कम कर देता है.

सपल नामक यह प्रोग्राम शुरू किए जाने के बाद एक बार चलने वाला एक टेस्ट लेता है. इसमें प्रयोक्ता को किसी पूर्व निर्धारित कार्य को करना होता है. यह सोफ्टवेर प्रयोक्ता द्वारा माउस को हिलाने की क्षमता और गति तथा उसके द्वारा सही जगह पर क्लिक किए जाने की क्षमता को नोट करता है.

इसके बाद यह सिस्टम का वातावरण प्रयोक्ता के टेस्ट नतीजों के हिसाब से ढाल देता है. उदाहरण के लिए यदि किसी व्यक्ति को माउस हिलाने मे दिक्कत होती हो तो वह माउस की गति कम कर देता है. तथा यदि किसी प्रयोक्ता को आइकोन पर क्लिक करने में दिक्कत आ रही हो तो वह आइकोन बडा कर देता है.

संशोधक अपने इस सॉफ़्टवेर का नतीजों से काफी खुश हैं.

बात ग्रहों पर जीवन की

जिस ग्रह पर जीवन होने की सबसे अधिक उम्मीद थी उस मंगल ग्रह पर जीवन ना होने के संकेत मिल रहे हैं, लेकिन वैज्ञानिकों मानना है कि मंगल ही अंतिम आशा नहीं है.

हमारी आकाशगंगा में कम से कम 37964 ग्रह ऐसे और हैं जहाँ जीवन पनप सकता है. यानी जहाँ पृथ्वीन की तरह लोग जीवनयापन कर सकते हैं.

एस्ट्रोफिजिसिस्ट डंकन फोर्गन के कम्प्यूटर प्रोग्राम के द्वारा यह पता लगाया जा सकता कि किसी ग्रह पर जीवन की कितनी सम्भावनाएँ हो सकती हैं. ये अनुमान ग्रहों के तापमान, और वहाँ मौजूद पानी और खनिजों की उपलब्धता पर निर्भर करता है.

ऐसे ग्रहों को तीन श्रेणियों मे बाँटा गया है. पहली श्रेणी उन ग्रहों कि जहाँ जीवन की उत्पति कठीन है. ऐसे ग्रहों की संख्यार कम से कम 361 है. दूसरी श्रेणी ऐसे ग्रहों की जिन पर जीवन का पैदा होना सरल हो सकता है, लेकिन जीवन के विकसित होने में कठिनाई हो सकती है. ऐसे ग्रहों की संख्या 31513 है. तीसरी श्रेणी ऐसे ग्रहों की जहाँ जीवन सम्भव है और जहाँ जाकर रहा जा सकता है. ऐसे ग्रहों की संख्या 38 हजार तक हो सकती है.

लेकिन ये ग्रह इतने दूर हैं कि यदि यहाँ कोई सभ्यता विकसित भी हुई हो तो उनसे सम्पर्क करने में सैंकडो वर्ष लग जाएंगे.

"केन-केन" एक नया खेल है जो तेजी से लोकप्रिय हो रहा है! लगभग उतनी ही तेजी से जितनी तेजी से सुडोकु लोकप्रिय हुआ था, और मजे की बात यह भी है कि ये दोनों ही खेल जापानी हैं.

अमेरिकी अखबार द न्यूयार्क टाइम्स ने 8 फरवरी से सुडोकु की जगह केन-केन को प्रकाशित करना शुरू किया है [पाठक सुडोकु से बोर हो गए हैं].

केन-केन क्या है?
केन-केन भी सुडोकु की तरह ही आँकडों पर आधारित खेल है. इस पहेलीनुमा खेल का आविष्कार जापान के प्रसिद्ध गणितज्ञ तेतसुया मियामोटो ने किया है. ऐसा माना जा रहा है कि केन-केन पहेलियों से भरी उनकी एक किताब की करीब 10 लाख प्रतियाँ अब तक बिक चुकी है. और अब दुनिया भर के समाचार पत्र इस खेल को छापना शुरू कर रहे हैं.

कैसे खेला जाता है केन-केन:
केन-केन थोडा बहुत सुडोकु जैसा ही है, परंतु यह मुख्यत: गणनाओं पर भी आधारित होता है. इसमें भी सुडोकु की तरह वर्गों का समूह होता है. यह समूह 3 वर्ग अथवा 9 वर्ग के हो सकते हैं.

एक कोलम अथवा एक रॉ में कोई भी अंक एक बार से अधिक नहीं लिखा जा सकता है [सुडोकु की ही तरह]. इस पहेली में कुछ वर्गों को मिलाकर एक पिंजरा बनाया जाता है और उस पिंजरे में "क्लू" के रूप में गणित का एक हल दिया जाता है. खिलाडी को उसे समझकर उस हिसाब से आँकडे भरने होते हैं.

उदाहरण के लिए मान लीजिए दो रिक्त वर्गों को मिलाकर एक पिंजरा बनाया गया, और क्लू के रूप में 11+ लिखा गया, तो इसका मतलब यह हुआ कि उन दो वर्गों में ऐसे अंक आएंगे जिनकी जोड 11 होगी. जाहिर है ऐसे दो अंक 5 और 6 है.

इसी तरह से जोड, गुणा, भाग, घटाव आदि के प्रश्न पूछे जा सकते हैं.

केन-केन एक बेहद मजेदार खेल है, और सुडोकु के बाद दुनिया में तेजी से लोकप्रिय हो रहा है.

गूगल का क्रोम बहुत फायदेमंद

1. गूगल क्रोम के माध्यम से आप वेबसाइटों के भी शोर्टकट आइकन बना सकते हैं. बस अपनी वांछित साइट खोलिए और पेज कंट्रोल मेनु मे से Create application shortcuts... पसन्द करिए.
2. गुप्त रूप से ब्राउज़िंग करने के लिए Control + Shift + N दबाइए और 'incognito' window खोलिए. यहाँ ब्राउज की गई साइटों की कूकिज और हिस्ट्री इत्यादि सुरक्षित नहीं रहती है.
3. यदि आपने गलती से कोई टेब बन्द कर दी है तो उसे पुन: खोलने के लिए Control + Shift + T दबाइए. आप यह क्रम 10 बार दोहरा भी सकते हैं.
4. एक टेब से दूसरी टेब पर जाने के लिए Control + 1, Control + 2, Control + 3 भी इस्तेमाल किया जा सकता. Control + 9 अंतिम टेब खोलेगा.
5. किसी भी लिंक को किसी टेब पर ले जाकर छोडने से वह लिंक उस टेब में खुल जाती है. यदि लिंक को दो टेबों के बीच ले जाकर छोडा जाए तो वह लिंक नई टेब में खुलती है.
6. बेक बटन पर राइट क्लिक करिए अथवा लेफ्ट की दबा कर रखिए तो पुराने पन्नों की लिंक दिखाई देगी.
7. हिस्ट्री पन्ने पर (Control + H) जाकर आप किसी खास दिन पर ब्राउज किए गए पन्ने भी मिटा सकते हैं. बस उस तिथि के आगे स्थित Delete history for this day दबाइए.
8. एड्रेस बार पर क्लिक कर Control + K अथवा Control + E दबाकर रखिए. एक “?” का चिह्न आएगा. अब आप जो भी लिखेंगे वह गूगल में सर्च होगा.
9. इंटॉल किए गए प्लग इन के बारे में जानने के लिए about:plugins दबाएँ.
10. और अंत में... एड्रेस बार में लिखें - about:internets और मजा उठाएँ. (सिर्फ Windows XP के लिए)

जीमेल ने अपने लेब में एक और फीचर जोडा है जो बेहद काम का है. यह फीचर है – मल्टिपल इनबॉक्स. यह फीचर प्रयोक्ता को एक ही स्क्रीन पर कई सारे इनबॉक्स दिखाता है. इससे प्रयोक्ता एक ही बार में कई सारे ईमेल देख पाता है.

इसका फायदा:

How to Partition the Hard Disk Drive

Using Disk Management under Windows 2000/XP
Note: The external hard disk drive cannot work with the “Dynamic” disk type. Do not upgrade the
external hard disk to drive “Dynamic” disk type, always use it with “Basic” disk type.
1. To partition the external hard disk drive under Windows 2000 or Windows XP, please plug in the
external hard disk drive and make sure it is recognized and then:
♦ In Windows 2000: click Start 􀃖 Settings 􀃖 Control Panel 􀃖 Administrative Tools 􀃖 Computer
Management, then the “Computer Management” window will be opened.
♦ In Windows XP: click Start 􀃖 Control Panel 􀃖 Performance and Maintenance 􀃖 Administrative
Tools 􀃖 Computer Management, then the “Computer Management” window will be opened.
2. Click on “Disk Management” on the left part of this window, all connected disk drives will be listed in the
right part. Find out the Disk # that indicates the external hard disk drive, for example, on the following
picture, “Disk 1” is the external hard disk drive. On the right side of the “Disk 1” is the status of the
partitions of this drive, you can create a new or delete an existing partition by right-clicking on this area.
The following steps will describe how to create a new partition on this external hard disk drive.

Note:
If the hard disk drive in the external enclosure is a new unpartioned drive, a “Stop” mark will
indicate this drive is an “Unknown” type of disk (refer to the figure shown on the right side)
when “Disk Management” is opened. In this situation, the Windows system will not allow you to
create a partition with this drive. In this case, you can:
♦ In Windows 2000: Windows will start up the “Write Signature and Upgrade Disk Wizard”
immediately. You can use this wizard to initialize the hard disk drive to the “Basic” disk
type and can then create partition in the drive.
♦ In Windows XP: you can right-click on the “Stop” mark, and then click “Initialize disk” to
initialize the hard disk drive to the “Basic” disk type and can then create partition in the
drive.
3. If the type of the hard disk drive is “Dynamic”, you must change it to the “Basic” type. To do this, rightclick
on “Disk 1”, and then click “Revert to Basic Disk” from the options. Wait for a few seconds, the
type of the hard disk drive will be then changed to “Basic” type.
4. To create a new partition in the hard disk drive, right-click on the partition area (right area) of “Disk 1”,
then click on “Create Partition…”, the “Create Partition Wizard” appears, click Next.
5. Select “Primary partition”, click Next.
6. Specify the size that you want this partition to be, click Next.
7. Assign a drive letter for this partition, please use the default value, and click Next.
8. Refer to the figure shown below, select “Format this partition with the following settings”, choose the file
system, and specify a name for the volume label, select “Perform a Quick Format”, then, click Next.

Click Finish to start the formatting, after the process is done, the “Disk Management” window is
changed as below. Make sure the status of the partition is “Healthy”.

10. Now, a partition is created in the external hard disk drive, data can now be written to it. If desired, one
or more partitions can be created in the same drive. For this, just repeat the steps above.

Using FDISK under Windows 98SE/Me
FDISK is a program to create one or more partitions in the hard disk drive. (Data can only be written to the
drive after this is partitioned and formatted.) To partition the external hard disk drive, you must execute
FDISK under the MS-DOS mode under Windows 98SE/Me, please follow these steps:
1. Boot-up the computer into Windows 98SE/Me system. Plug the external hard disk drive to computer,
and make sure it is recognized.
2. Go into the MS-DOS mode by click on Start 􀃖 Programs 􀃖 MS-DOS Prompt.
3. At the DOS prompt, type “FDISK” and press Enter.
4. In the first screen of FDISK, answer the question: “Do you want to enable large disk support?”
Y if you want to create a partition larger than 2GB (FAT32).
N if you want to create a partition small than 2GB (FAT16).
5. The next screen is “FDISK OPTIONS”. You must type 5 on this screen to change the current fixed
disk drive, the default fixed drive set by FDISK is the internal hard disk drive. If you do not
change it to the external hard disk drive, the data of internal hard disk drive will be destroyed.
If the option 5 does not appear on this screen, it means the external hard disk drive is not installed
properly, please check the software installation.
6. In “Change Current Fixed Disk Drive” screen, type the disk drive number that is assigned to the
external hard disk drive (usually, the external hard disk drive is the fixed disk drive number 2).
7. Back to “FDISK OPTIONS” screen, type 4 to display the content of the fixed disk drive, check the
content to make sure the current drive is the external hard disk drive.
8. Now you can create (type 1) or delete (type 3) the partition of the external hard disk drive.
9. After you finish FDISK, reboot computer to activate the chan

Averaging Values In A Range
You can use Excel’s built in =AVERAGE function to average a range of values. By using it
with other functions, you can extend its functionality.
For the formulas given below, assume that our data is in the range A1:A60.
Averaging Values Between Two Numbers
Use the array formula
=AVERAGE(IF((A1:A60>=Low)*(A1:A60<=High),A1:A60))
Where Low and High are the values between which you want to average.
Averaging The Highest N Numbers In A Range
To average the N largest numbers in a range, use the array formula
=AVERAGE(LARGE(A1:A60,ROW(INDIRECT(“1:10”))))
Change “1:10” to “1:N” where N is the number of values to average.
Averaging The Lowest N Numbers In A Range
To average the N smallest numbers in a range, use the array formula
=AVERAGE(SMALL(A1:A60,ROW(INDIRECT(“1:10”))))
Change “1:10” to “1:N” where N is the number of values to average.
In all of the formulas above, you can use =SUM instead of =AVERAGE to sum, rather
than average, the numbers.
Counting Values Between Two Numbers
If you need to count the values in a range that are between two numbers, for example between
5 and 10, use the following array formula:
=SUM((A1:A10>=5)*(A1:A10<=10))

Duplicate And Unique Values In A Range
The task of finding duplicate or unique values in a range of data requires some complicated
formulas. These procedures are described in Duplicates.
Dynamic Ranges
You can define a name to refer to a range whose size varies depending on its contents. For example,
you may want a range name that refers only to the portion of a list of numbers that are not blank. such
as only the first N non-blank cells in A2:A20. Define a name called MyRange, and set the Refers To
property to:
=OFFSET(Sheet1!$A$2,0,0,COUNTA($A$2:$A$20),1)
Be sure to use absolute cell references in the formula. Also see then Named Ranges page for more
information about dynamic ranges.
Finding The Used Part Of A Range
Suppose we’ve got a range of data called DataRange2, defined as H7:I25, and that
cells H7:I17 actually contain values. The rest are blank. We can find various properties
of the range, as follows:
To find the range that contains data, use the following array formula:
=ADDRESS(ROW(DataRange2),COLUMN(DataRange2),4)&”:”&
ADDRESS(MAX((DataRange2<>””)*ROW(DataRange2)),COLUMN(DataRange2)+

This will return the range H7:I17. If you need the worksheet name in the returned range,
use the following array formula:

To find the number of rows that contain data, use the following array formula:

This will return the number 11, indicating that the first 11 rows of DataRange2 contain data.
To find the last entry in the first column of DataRange2, use the following array formula:

First And Last Names
Suppose you’ve got a range of data consisting of people’s first and last names.
There are several formulas that will break the names apart into first and last names
separately.
Suppose cell A2 contains the name “John A Smith”.
To return the last name, use
=RIGHT(A2,LEN(A2)-FIND(“*”,SUBSTITUTE(A2,” “,”*”,LEN(A2)-
LEN(SUBSTITUTE(A2,” “,””)))))
To return the first name, including the middle name (if present), use
=LEFT(A2,FIND(“*”,SUBSTITUTE(A2,” “,”*”,LEN(A2)-
LEN(SUBSTITUTE(A2,” “,””))))-1)
To return the first name, without the middle name (if present), use
=LEFT(B2,FIND(“ “,B2,1))
We can extend these ideas to the following. Suppose A1 contains the
string “First Second Third Last”.
Returning First Word In A String
=LEFT(A1,FIND(“ “,A1,1))
This will return the word “First”.
Returning Last Word In A String
=RIGHT(A1,LEN(A1)-MAX(ROW(INDIRECT(“1:”&LEN(A1)))

Returning Any Word Or Words In A String
The following two array formulas come compliments of Laurent Longre. To return any single word from
a single-spaced string of words, use the following array formula:

This formula can be extended to get any set of words in the string. To get the words from M for N
words (e.g., the 5th word for 3, or the 5th, 6th, and 7th words), use the following array formula:

Where A10 is the cell containg the text, B10 is the number of the word to get, and C10 is the number of
words, starting at B10, to get.
Note that in the above array formulas, the {0,1} and {-1,1} are enclosed in array braces (curly
brackets {} ) not parentheses.

Grades
A frequent question is how to assign a letter grade to a numeric value. This is simple. First create a
define name called “Grades” which refers to the array:
={0,”F”;60,”D”;70,”C”;80,”B”;90,”A”}
Then, use VLOOKUP to convert the number to the grade:
=VLOOKUP(A1,Grades,2)
where A1 is the cell contains the numeric value. You can add entries to the Grades array for other
grades like C- and C+. Just make sure the numeric values in the array are in increasing order.
High And Low Values
You can use Excel’s Circular Reference tool to have a cell that contains the highest ever reached value.
For example, suppose you have a worksheet used to track team scores. You can set up a cell that will
contain the highest score ever reached, even if that score is deleted from the list. Suppose the score are
in A1:A10. First, go to the Tools->Options dialog, click on the Calculation tab, and check the
Interations check box. Then, enter the following formula in cell B1:
=MAX(A1:A10,B1)
Cell B1 will contian the highest value that has ever been present in A1:A10, even if that value is
deleted from the range. Use the =MIN function to get the lowest ever value.
Another method to do this, without using circular references, is provided by Laurent Longre, and uses
the CALL function to access the Excel4 macro function library. Click here for details.
Left Lookups
The easiest way do table lookups is with the =VLOOKUP function. However, =VLOOKUP requires
that the value returned be to the right of the value you’re looking up. For example, if you’re
looking up a value in column B, you cannot retrieve values in column A. If you need to
retrieve a value in a column to the left of the column containing the lookup value, use
either of the following formulas:
=INDIRECT(ADDRESS(ROW(Rng)+MATCH(C1,Rng,0)-1,COLUMN(Rng)-
ColsToLeft)) Or
=INDIRECT(ADDRESS(ROW(Rng)+MATCH(C1,Rng,0)-1,COLUMN(A:A) ))
Where Rng is the range containing the lookup values, and ColsToLeft is the number of columns
to the left of Rng that the retrieval values are. In the second syntax, replace “A:A” with the
column containing the retrieval data. In both examples, C1 is the value you want to look up.

Minimum And Maximum Values In A Range
Of course you can use the =MIN and =MAX functions to return the minimum and maximum
values of a range. Suppose we’ve got a range of numeric values called NumRange.
NumRange may contain duplicate values. The formulas below use the following example:
Address Of First Minimum In A Range
To return the address of the cell containing the first (or only) instance of the minimum of a list,
use the following array formula:
=ADDRESS(MIN(IF(NumRange=MIN(NumRange),ROW(NumRange))),COLUMN(NumRange),4)
This function returns B2, the address of the first ‘1’ in the range.
Address Of The Last Minimum In A Range
To return the address of the cell containing the last (or only) instance of the minimum of a list,
use the following array formula:
=ADDRESS(MAX(IF(NumRange=MIN(NumRange),ROW(NumRange)*(NumRange<>””))),
COLUMN(NumRange),4)
This function returns B4, the address of the last ‘1’ in the range.
Address Of First Maximum In A Range
To return the address of the cell containing the first instance of the maximum of a list,
use the following array formula:

This function returns B1, the address of the first ‘5’ in the range.
Address Of The Last Maximum In A Range
To return the address of the cell containing the last instance of the maximum of a list,
use the following array formula:

This function returns B5, the address of the last ‘5’ in the range.

Most Common String In A Range
The following array formula will return the most frequently used entry in a range:
=INDEX(Rng,MATCH(MAX(COUNTIF(Rng,Rng)),COUNTIF(Rng,Rng),0))
Where Rng is the range containing the data.
Ranking Numbers
Often, it is useful to be able to return the N highest or lowest values from a range of data.
Suppose we have a range of numeric data called RankRng. Create a range next to
RankRng (starting in the same row, with the same number of rows) called TopRng.
Also, create a named cell called TopN, and enter into it the number of values you want to
return (e.g., 5 for the top 5 values in RankRng). Enter the following formula in the first cell in
TopRng, and use Fill Down to fill out the range:
=IF(ROW()-ROW(TopRng)+1>TopN,””,LARGE(RankRng,ROW()-
ROW(TopRng)+1))
To return the TopN smallest values of RankRng, use
=IF(ROW()-ROW(TopRng)+1>TopN,””,SMALL(RankRng,ROW()-
ROW(TopRng)+1))
The list of numbers returned by these functions will automatically change as you change the
contents of RankRng or TopN.

Removing Blank Cells In A Range
The procedures for creating a new list consisting of only those entries in another list, excluding
blank cells, are described in NoBlanks.
Summing Every Nth Value
You can easily sum (or average) every Nth cell in a column range. For example, suppose you want to
sum every 3rd cell.
Suppose your data is in A1:A20, and N = 3 is in D1. The following array formula will sum the
values in A3, A6, A9, etc.
=SUM(IF(MOD(ROW($A$1:$A$20),$D$1)=0,$A$1:$A$20,0))
If you want to sum the values in A1, A4, A7, etc., use the following array formula:
=SUM(IF(MOD(ROW($A$1:$A$20)-1,$D$1)=0,$A$1:$A$20,0))
If your data ranges does not begin in row 1, the formulas are slightly more complicated. Suppose our
data is in B3:B22, and N = 3 is in D1. To sum the values in rows 5, 8, 11, etc, use the following
array formula:
=SUM(IF(MOD(ROW($B$3:$B$22)-ROW($B$3)+1,$D$1)=0,$B$3:B$22,0))
If you want to sum the values in rows 3, 6, 9, etc, use the following array formula:
=SUM(IF(MOD(ROW($B$3:$B$22)-ROW($B$3),$D$1)=0,$B$3:B$22,0))

Sheet Name
Suppose our active sheet is named “MySheet” in the file C:\Files\MyBook.Xls.
To return the full sheet name (including the file path) to a cell, use
=CELL(“filename”,A1)
Note that the argument to the =CELL function is the word “filename” in quotes, not your
actual filename.
This will return “C:\Files\[MyBook.xls]MySheet”
To return the sheet name, without the path, use

In all of the examples above, the A1 argument to the =CELL function forces Excel to get the sheet
name from the sheet containing the formula. Without it, and Excel calculates the =CELL function when
another sheet is active, the cell would contain the name of the active sheet, not the sheet actually containing
the formula.
Testing whether conditions are true or false and making logical comparisons between expressions are
common to many tasks. You can use the AND, OR, NOT, and IF function to create conditional formulas.
The IF function uses the following arguments.
Formula with the IF function
logical_test: The condition that you want to check.
value_if_true: The value to return if the condition is true.
value_if_false: The value to return if the condition is
false.

Installation
Run Hindi Setup.exe and follow the instructions in the setup program.

Adding Input Locale

Note: Please perform the below listed steps even if you have V5.0 or any other older version already installed on your machine. Repeat the same after running setup for V5.1

1. Open Control Panel.

Select regional and language, tab language and click detail and click add select hindi and hindi indic IME 1 (V 5.1) and ok
Select Hindi in Input Language, check Keyboard Layout /IME box. And Select Indic IME 1.

Click OK.

How to Use Indic IME:

After installing Indic IME start any Office application, WordPad or Notepad.
Click the Language Indicator located in the System Tray on the right side of the Windows taskbar, and click to select “Indic IME 1” from the shortcut menu that appears.
Start typing in Hindi.
Keyboards
Indic IME provides support for six types of keyboard:

· Hindi Transliteration – Using phonetic typing, the user can type his message in Roman using the Standard English keyboard, which is transliterated on-the-fly to Hindi. It works on the logic of phonetics and is most effective when you spell the word the way it is spoken.

· Hindi Remington- Hindi Remington is usual Remington Hindi typewriter Typing can be done as per the key mapping of the Remington keyboard.

· Hindi Typewriter- Another Hindi keyboard used in typing. Typing can be done as per the key mapping of Hindi typewriter keyboard.

· Inscript Keyboard- Another Hindi Keyboard where the user types the basic characters in sequence and an underlying logic determines that which of these characters have to be combined and substituted to form a glyph.

· Webdunia Keyboard- Another Hindi keyboard used in typing. Typing can be done as per the key mapping of Webdunia Keyboard.

· Anglo Nagari Keyboard- Another Hindi keyboard used in typing. Typing can be done as per the key mapping of Webdunia Keyboard.

User can select a keyboard to type using the following menu. This menu appears whenever user presses Ctrl+Alt+K from his keyboard

Known problems:

In Excel, text is not displayed until space, enter or tab is pressed.
When customized word list window is closed, a small window remains on screen.
If text is typed very fast, Front page, Microsoft Outlook (HTML compose) crashes.
Randomly crashes in Excel.
Performs relatively slow in Front page, HTML mail in Outlook.
While switching to English Keyboard or any other IME, last typed word is lost if not committed.
In Front Page and Microsoft Outlook (HTML compose), Enter has to be pressed twice to get new line.
If arrow keys, Pg Up, Pg Down etc. keys are pressed without committing text(i.e without pressing space, enter or tab), each key needs to be pressed twice to get the effect. If text is committed, then these keys work smoothly

Numerology is a science of exploring hidden powers of numbers and their influence on human beings. Indians see numbers as symbols of certain types of cosmic powers. And they link them with spirituality. For example 0 is a number that encircles some part of the infinite universe. The inner part of it is separated from the vast outer space. This is similar to human body where the soul (Jeevaatma) resides. A human being always feels that he is separate and the outer universe is different from him. He confines his soul with his present body and thinks that he and the body is one and the same. Thus he has forgotten the truth that he is the all-pervading God. This is called cosmic delusion (Maaya). So 0 represents the cosmic delusion. This means 0 gives false impression that what ever is not there, is there. Let us add 0 after 1, then that 1 appears as 10. This means 1 is assuming a different form, because of 0. This is same as the super-soul appearing in different forms because of Maaya. Every number will have mental and spiritual plane represented by its top half part and the material worldly affairs are represented by its remaining bottom part. When we connect a series of points in a single direction, then it becomes 1. Thus 1 represents single-mindedness in achieving the objectives, creativity, and starting new ventures. Its pillored appearance represents independence and leadership qualities. 2 is round shaped at top. It is a open 0. That means there is no complete Maaya at mental level. There is a scope to receive and release new ideas and concepts. So 2 represents flexibility and diplomacy. The bottom of 2 shows a horizontal line that is attached firmly to ground. This means if these inventive ideas are properly used, the person can achieve highest success in material world. Take 3, it is having open rounded ends at its top as well as at bottom.This shows continuous receiving and releasing of new ideas and involving into new developments. It represents ambition, self-expression and idealism. This number makes a person to reap material benefits from his intelligence and spiritualism. Just close the rounded ends of 3, you will get 8. It symbolises pregnancy, artistic and feminine qualities. The 0 formation at bottom indicates Maaya that pushes the person in love with family- related matters and enjoyment. 9 is a number that is nothing but inverted 6. It represents love to the world. The 0 formation at top, overshadows a person's intelligence with Maaya. The person cannot think but work. So there is a conflict. He would be quick in actions and courageous. While the numbers have the above significance, each number has been attached to a particular planet in Astrology, the reason is: cetain planet produces the similar vibration of a certain number. Thus 1- Sun, 2- Moon, 3- Jupiter, 4- Uranus or Rahu, 5- Mercury, 6- Venus, 7- Neptune or Kethu, 8- Saturn, and 9- Mars. Vedas are the oldest literature and compendium of multitude of Knowledge. The history of Astrology traces back to Vedic times, lakhs of years ago from now. Astrology can be divided broadly as Siddhanta Bhaga (Calculation part) and Phalita Bhaga (Predictive part). In Rigveda, the year is divided into 12 months, the special 13th month called extra month correlates the Solar and Lunar months. In Taittireeya Brahmana, the 6 seasons are described. The details of planets as gods, solar and lunar eclipses are available in Rigveda. The oldest available book on Astrology is ‘Rigjyothisha’, written by Lagadha. In this book, there are 5 types of years described, along with the ruling deities. The 2 ayanas (parts) of the year are also mentioned, along with their starting stars. Precision of equinoxes are explained. And the 27 stars are also given in this book. There are 18 pioneers in Astrology, who contributed for its development. They are: 1. Surya, 2. Pitamaha, 3. Vyasa, 4. Vasishta, 5. Atri, 6. Parasara, 7. Kasyapa, 8. Narada, 9. Garga, 10. Mareechi, 11. Manu, 12. Angeerasa, 13. Lomasa, 14. Poulisa, 15. Chyavana, 16. Yavana, 17. Bhrigu, and 18. Saunaka. Varahamihira (123 AD) wrote ‘Brihat Samhita’, a great work on Astronomy and Astrology. There are 105 chapters and 4000 verses in this book. He has shown how Astrology can be applied for the welfare of public. Aryabhatta-I (476 AD) wrote ‘Aryabhateeya’, which comprise a great deal of Astronomy, Mathematics and Astrology. Even Astronomy of this book is spread to Arab countries. Aryabhatta-II (950 AD) wrote ‘Mahasiddhanta’, where he explained more clearly about calculation part of Astrology. Bhaskara-I (629 AD) wrote ‘Mahabhaskareeya’, a book on astro-mathematics. Bhaskara-II (1114 AD) gave ‘Siddhanta Siromani’ where a lot of Mathematics can be found. Details of square, square root, cube, cube root, factorial values, factors of a number are explained. Details of planets, calculation of radius of earth , eclipses, and atmospheric layers ( 7 zones) above earth are discussed clearly. A lot of other authors like Kalyana Varma, Kalidasa, Venkatesa, Neelakantha, Mantreswara, etc. have published books on Astrology. Zodiac is the outer wheel from where the radiation from different celestial bodies is received, filtered and sent to earth. Indian Astrology links the planets and stars with gods. Gods are representatives of certain types of energies. The entire Zodiac chart is divided into 12 signs, starting from Aries, Taurus, Gemini, Cancer, Leo, Virgo, Libra, Scorpio, Sagittarius, Capricorn, Aquarius, and Pisces. There are 4 things to be done in a human life: Dharma (righteous path), Artha (wealth), Kaama (Desire), Moksha (Unification of soul with God). These are one by one represented by the 12 houses of the zodiac. The hidden meaning is: A man should follow righteous path to achieve wealth and fulfill his desires. At the same time he must be desirous to reach God, and find ways to finally unify himself with the super soul. The potentiality to achieve this is represented step wise by the zodiac. Theory says that Zodiac wheel starts with Aries 0 degrees, and is constant. When a top is rotating , it bends slightly and rotates. If a point is imagined on the top , it make circles. These circles will not coincide each other. There will be some deviation between each circle. Similarly, the Zodiac is also deviating slowly from its constant position. It is calculated to be around 51 seconds per year. This deviation is called Precession of equinoxes, or Ayanamsa. Indian Astrologers are not taking this Ayanamsa into account when they calculate Planet positions. So their system is called ‘Nirayana’. But westerners apply this correction in their calculations. So western system is called 'Sayana' system. This is the major difference in Indian and Western Astrological worlds. Sayana = Nirayana + Ayanamsa. There are 27 stars and each star has 4 padas (quarters). Thus a total of 27 x 4 = 108 star padas will will arise, which have been distributed in the zodiac. Since 12 signs are there in the Zodiac, every sign gets 9 padas. Each pada is of 3 degrees 20 minutes duration and 9 x 3deg 20min = 30 degrees. So each sign takes 30 degrees duration. There are planets whose role is to bestow the results of past deeds, done either in this birth or carried from previous births. Planets merely transmit the results which we earlier stored in the form of radiation. There are 9 planets identified: Sun, Moon, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Mercury, Venus , Rahu (Ascending Node) and Kethu (Descending Node). All the planets are not comfortable in all the signs. A planet is comfortable in its exaltation, or friendly or own house. Then it may give good results. A planet is not comfortable in enemy camp, and can give bad results. Each planet aspects its opposite planet, i.e, the house and planet in 7th from it. Additionally, Jupiter has 5th and 9th aspects. Mars has 4th and 8th aspects. And, Saturn has 3rd and 10th aspects. By observing the inter-relationships between the signs, planets, stars and their positions, we can understand the inherent capabilities of a human being, his thought process, and his weaknesses, and finally conclude what he has in store for his future. Various Dasa- systems are developed to know what planets are currently influencing a human being and promoting him to do what kind of things. Indians call planets 'Grahas'. Graha means that which catches. Grahas are those which catch the human beings and shed their influence on them. Grahas affect all inanimate and animate objects in this world. This is the reason Grahas are also personified as gods by Indians. Another greatness of Indian Astrology lies in providing remedial measures for various problems faced by human beings. The remedies are mentioned by sages in various works and also in Vedas. But the suitability of a remedy for a case is to be judged by a competent astrologer. Indians see Astrology in every thing. It became a part and parcel of their culture. For them Astrology is ‘VedaChakshu’, the guiding eye for molding their future and attaining self- realization.

Vastu is derived from ‘Vasanivase’ which means the place suitable for living. Vastu is a science of architecture. It dates back to Vedas, which are the most ancient books of knowledge. While Astrology is said to be Vedanga (the limb of Veda), Vastu is said to be a Upaveda(minor Veda). There are four types of Vastu: 1) Bhoomi - deals with selection of a site/land 2) Prasada - deals with Palaces and buildings 3) Yana - Vehicles, carts and ships 4) Sayana - furniture, tools and utensils. Koutilya’s ‘Artha Sastra’ defines Vastu as a basis for constructing Villages, Landscapes, Gardens, Bridges, Ponds and Lakes. Varahamihira in his great work ‘Brihat Samhita’ deals with a lot of Vastu knowledge like weather forecasting, earthquake forecasting, rainfall, architecture, exploration of water springs etc. ‘Manasara’ another great book on Vastu, discusses the principles of architectural and sculptural construction. ‘Mayamatam’ of Maya who is said to build the great Maya Sabha of Pandavas (of Mahabharatha times) is a rich work with 36 chapters starting from the fundamental question of selecting a site/land for construction, building houses/temples, different ways of construction etc. Even ‘Viswakarmaprakasika’ also deals the same subject from a different light and in a candid way. ‘Samarangana Sutradhara’ authored by King Bhoja (1018 - 1060 AD) contains vast subject on house construction, town planning and temple architecture. Four main directions are identified in all the works: East, South, West and North. Another four corners formed at the intersection points of these four directions, are called: SE, SW, NW, NE. The earth is the place of dwelling for every one. It is a big magnet. Its magnetic North pole is located in universal South direction, and magnetic South pole is located in universal North direction. This means the magnetic lines of earth travel from South to North. If any body sleeps by placing his head towards North, there would be magnetic lines passing through his head in the same direction, and more blood is pumped into the head, thus creating head- related problems. This means the Earth’s magnetism also influences our lives. It is good if a building is aligned strictly in the four main directions, because its walls will be either perpendicular or parallel to the magnetic lines of earth. If we build a house putting an entrance in any of the four main directions, there will be prosperity for the resident. But if the house is oriented into the corner directions, then the walls cross the magnetic lines in a zigzag way, leading to mental disturbances and lack of peace and success. Plenty of light , air and water is also needed for living beings to thrive. Thus when a house is constructed, we should see that the house gets proper Sun light and the wind. There should be availability of water in the ground in the vicinity of the house. The Sun light has got different energies which are identified as around 45 different deities. Each type of energy is suitable for a particular task. Accordingly, the place where the energy falls is allotted for living room, kitchen, dining room, bed room, etc. This provides a basic frame work for dividing the land for specific use. The land/plot is divided into 9 X 9 = 81 squares which is called ‘Ekaseetipada Vastu’. These 81 squares will represent where to erect the pillars for construction, where to place the main entrance, where to place the kitchen and other rooms, where to place what type of furniture, etc. The Sun light along with other Planetary lights is represented as ‘Vastu Purusha’, the deity of all plots. The position of Vastu Purusha changes every day and also depends on the seasons. Offerings should be made to Vastu Purusha and he will take care of the inmates of the house. Vastu deals with how to select a plot, and making the plot ready for construction. It is ideal to have a plot in Square or Rectangular form and aligned properly in the four main directions. Then a compound wall must be constructed first. The plot must be divided into 81 squares of equal size, and a plan should be drawn. Then construction work should start after offerings are made to Vastu Purusha and other deities and planets. Vastu also gives advice on how to match the name of a person to the place where he wants to live, and how to find the direction for main entrance into his house. A general placement of rooms in a house is given in the diagram. A person should find peace at home after working for hours together in the office. Otherwise, there is no use in having a residence. Here Vastu plays an important role. When a house is constructed according to the principles advocated in Vastu, the dweller will have peace and prosperity in his life.

It is used to get rid of skin diseases, fevers, accidents, abortions, burns and enmity with others.A Coral increases practicality, quickness in doing the things and vigor. Yellow Sapphire: It would be yellow or white in color. Yellow is preferred. It is used to get the grace of God, children, education, and high position in job or business. It is used to get success in legal problems, digestion and liver problems. Blue Sapphire: This is in dark blue or black in color. Nervous problems, delays, serious ill health, diseases of teeth, ears, rheumatism, aging, problems in service and business can be controlled by wearing a Blue Sapphire. Emerald: This gem is in green color, causing the power of intelligence, presence of mind, right decisions in business, communication, speculation, scientific education. It can be worn to escape from madness, stammering, and nervous problems. Diamond: This is a very precious stone with bright white color. Delays in marriage, bad married life, diseases of reproductive system, lack of luxuries in life can be overcome by using a diamond. Hardness of diamond: 10, Specific gravity: 3.52, Refractive index: 2.4175. Hessonite: This is in honey color and eliminates problems like cholera, dysentery, hallucinations, and problems from evil spirits. Cat’s eye: This is in white color with a circular band around in grass color. It alleviates problems like paralysis, contaminated diseases, infections, intestinal disorders and increases religious nature in a person. MANTRAS are mystic sounds which produce certain type of energies. ‘Mananath Trayathe Ithi Mantraha’- Mantra protects the person who recites it. This means Mantras are primarily invented by great seers for the welfare of the society. The cosmic energy we always receive contains different energies coming from different celestial bodies. Because we are part of our solar system, the energies coming from the Planets in this solar system always fall on us, and absorbed by our body. These energies are much needed by every one of us. They drive our daily activities and decisions. Our life force is indeed combined with these energies. When there is a deficit of any of these energies, the related problems will arise. For example, when there is a deficit of energy coming from Sun, health problems like headache, bad eye sight, weakness of heart etc will occur. Also there will be problems with one’s boss or government officials. There will be obstacles in acquiring paternal property. We can overcome all these problems by increasing the Sun’s energy in the individual by adopting various techniques. Recitation of Sun’s Mantra is the most effective technique. What happens when a Mantra is recited? When we repeatedly utter a Mantra we are tuning to a particular frequency and this frequency establishes a contact with the cosmic energy and drags it into our body and surroundings. Thus we can balance the energies and also increase the level of a certain type of energy, which promote certain actions and events. For example, if we increase the Mercury’s energy level, it promotes us to take intelligent steps in business. All mantras came from the single sacred sound: 'Om'. Om is a combination of 3 main sounds: Aa-Vu-Ma. (See the symbol of Om at right) 'Aa' represents Vishnu, the sustainer, 'Vu' represents Siva, the destroyer, and 'Ma' represents Brahma, the creator. Aa-also represents the Sun, Vu-the Moon, and Ma-the Fire. There are more than 150 meanings uncovered from the sound 'Om', so far. The ‘Gayatri Mantra’ recited by Hindus comprise 24 sounds, each sound is loaded with the energy of a different type by ancient sages. Thus there are 24 sages who contributed the sounds for Gayatri Mantra. It is said that ‘there is no great Mantra than Gayatri and there is no great god than the Mother’. The main aim of Mantras is to provide whatever the human beings long for. For example, the sound ‘Sreem’ represents Lakshmi, the goddess of wealth. Hence the Mantra: ‘Om Sreem Om’ will bring monetary success to a person who recites it daily for at least 2 hours. If you want to attract others and get the things done by them, then ‘Kleem’ is the right sound for you. This sound spells charm. So the Mantra: ‘Om Kleem Om’ will increase your magnetism. If you want to become more dynamic and energetic and you want to get rid of general diseases, you can chant: ‘Om Hreem Om’. Here ‘Hreem’ is a energy reservoir. If you are worried about the intelligence and education of your children, let them recite: ‘Om Iym Om’. Here ‘Iym’ represents Saraswathi, the goddess of Education. A lot many people face illhealth and suffer a lot, because of the deeds committed in their previous births. For them, to get rid of health problems, and live a full life sanctioned by God, they should recite ‘Om Joom Saha’. It gives stability in job or business. 5) Saturn: Om Khraam Khreem Khroum Sah Senaye Namaha | This Mantra makes one to escape from procrastination, trauma, ill-health, all major problems in life. 6) Mercury: Om Braam Breem Broum Sah Budhaaya Namaha | This is the Mantra to improve Business dealings and Communications skills. This will sharpen the intelligence. 7) Venus: Om Dhraam Dhreem Dhroum Sah Sukraaya Namaha | This Mantra makes one to improve relations with women, artistic talents, acquiring jewelry and money. 8) Rahu: Om Bhraam Bhreem Bhroum Sah Rahave Namaha | This Mantra makes one to get rid of any confusion in mind, legal problems, problems from evil spirits. 9) Kethu: Om Praam Preem Proum Sah Kethave Namaha | This Mantra makes one to come out of defamation, allergic diseases, problems from evil spirits, and sudden happening of bad events. Every one cannot start chanting what ever Mantras they want. The person who wants to recite a Mantra should follow certain code of conduct. For example, one should recite a Mantra when at peace. He/she should get up early in the morning, take bath, start reciting the mantras at the time of Sun rise. One should maintain piousness and avoid Non-vegetarian food, alcohol, and other stuff, which make the functioning of the brain improper. Most important is: one should find a Guru (divine guide), who tells what type of Mantra is suitable to alleviate one’s problems, and also teaches how to recite the Mantras. Without proper guidance from Guru, one should not venture to start chanting the Mantras.
